I engaged Tom to help me work on strategies and behaviours to meet these challenges while growing as a manager and person. Tom has a fantastic way of breaking issues down to their root causes and then probing and prompting to help me define clear actions and approaches to take away and use. In addition, through working with Tom I have developed a much better picture of my own ways of working and personal goals.

As my coach Tom, you gave me food for thought. From being stressed, and almost ready to give up, you implemented strategies to which I still use. Prior to you, I would avoid the minority staff that had issues (that seemed endless) and took a step back. I then became diplomatic in my delivery. I kept my interaction work related as you had rightly encouraged. I developed the mindset of “I cannot control the things I cannot change, but I can control the things I can change”. Therefore I took back my power – but in a positive way and this strengthened me as a leader. I have more confidence, diplomacy and resolution skills have improved.

I contacted and engaged Tom because I needed help with people management across all sectors of the business. We have a team of 26 staff and as GM I have looked at different ways to make positive change within the group to therefore improve the culture at Salute. Before I started working with Tom I had challenges within certain areas of the Business that needed to be fixed Since working with Tom I gained a much clearer understanding of how to grab a group and bring them together. I set a plan and called the team in to a meeting to set some basic standards that we all agree to as an ongoing theme. As a team we now hold each other to this set standard which has brought a much more consistent level of output. I found that listening to what they needed was a great tip as well, so we could then mould the plan and outcome around this to assist. As a result of Tom's program/working with Tom, we now have some standards set and agreed to. This has been fully implemented and is working extremely well.
